  • 2 teaspoons oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 500g chuck steak, cubed
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 sticks celery, sliced
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 Continental Stock Pot Beef
  • 6 cups (1500mL) water
  • ½ cup pearl barley


  • Heat oil and brown onion, beef, carrots and celery. Add paprika and cook for another minute.
  • Add Continental Stock Pot, water and pearl barley, bring to the boil, cover and simmer gently for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
  • Serve with crusty bread.
  • Hint: Serve with sour cream and chives.
